So, they hang out every now and then and Blob even lets her use him as a punching bag when there isn't one available. They chat about their powers and such, Fred being the man nobody WANTS to touch and Rogue being the woman nobody CAN touch. Anyway, they start hanging out more and work together in the danger room, with Rogue occasionally taking little bits of strength from him to amp herself up.
At one point, Fred, knowing he can't touch her, decides to improvise. He buys a pair of large gloves and some wax lips before gong to visit Rogue and pulls her into a 'kiss'. Since the lips are fake, her drain touch doesn't get through them. It's better than nothing. They use this method for awhile until a later date.

During the first dramatic battle against the Hellfire Club, Rogue is caught offguard by Selene's strength and powers and a large amount of her life force before throwing her away. Blob meanwhile gets thrashed by Shaw. After the battle is over and Nicholaus is captured by the Hellfire Club, the X-Gang pick themselves up. Blob finds Rogue dying on the ground and just jumps to the first idea that comes to his mind. Fred grabs her face in his hands and kisses Rogue. After a few moments, her powers kick in and she starts absorbing his powers and life force. Blob passes out but Rogue recovers. She absorbs a good chunk of his memories and her body slightly changes temporarily.

She checks Fred's pulse after she wakes up. He's alive, though weaker and in bad shape. As she adjusts to her physique, she swears to make Selene pay for both of them..
Prior to the rematch, she taps Cyke, Jean and Kurt as well, giving her an entire arsenal to battle Selene with. The Black Queen isn't helpless though and fights back with her magic. After an epic back and forth fight between them, they end up grappling. More prepared, driven and pretty pissed at Selene, Rogue actually manages to outwill her this time and drain a bit of Selene's strength this time around before slamming her down. Nicholaus is freed by Erik and runs into the battle, pausing to copy some adamantium from Logan and armor up. he and Rogue tag team Selene and beat her down before throwing her away.

Fred meanwhile mostly just uses himself as a human shield against Riptide spinning around and throwing spikes around. Storm and Jean are the ones who
do most of the fighting against him.

Cyclops and Hank try fighting Azazel but his teleport spam is a real problem. Kurt teleports into the fight after Scott is wounded. He duels his father while trying to talk him down.

Toad and Iceman fight Shaw, with Toad sliming him and Iceman freezing that and Shaw in a block of ice. Shaw though just bursts out with a huge burst of energy that he's absorbed and fights them back.

The fight is taken over by Eric, who has come to settle things with Shaw.

After the epic battles end with the Hellfire Club defeated, Eric drags Shaw out and prepares to interrogate him about where his children are.

The American and Russian militaries go on the attack though and launch their missiles. Erik, really not in the mood for this, holds up his hand and stops them. Mystique eggs him on and the X-Gang try to tell him not to. Scott recovers, and walks over and throws off his glasses and destroys the missiles with a huge optic blast before passing out from his wounds.

The X-Gang recover at the Mansion and toast to their great victory.

While Rogue's body goes back to normal, she retains a small amount of super strength and durability.

Following the U-Men Arc, where in several of the students and some of the teachers are captured by them and eventually freed, Hank tinkers with some of the suppression collars they brought back to see how they worked.
After a request from Fred, he gets to work on something special.

An arc or two passes.

Once it's finally ready, Hank gives it to Fred who gives it to Rogue: A watch that comes with an on and off switch, allowing her to switch off her absorbing powers without any damage to her body. Waterproof, that's a new feature. Rogue gives it a try and kisses Fred, finding that she can indeed use the strength and durability without having to worry about draining. She and Fred celebrate.

Just a little something until she can learn to control that aspect of her powers at will.
