DC Nation: Gotham

A press conference is held infront of the Luthor Corp building, a branch thats built and opened at Gotham Central ever since the company was tasked in rebuilding Gotham after the Arkham City incident. Mercy Graves, head of the Gotham Branch of Luthor Corp, is shown speaking before the press

"My father always said, ask not for challenges equal to our strength but for strength equal to our challenges. To the children of this city, I know what it's like to grow up in desperate times. I was taught that everyone must do their best. That we must do whatever we can to take care of eachother. No exceptions, we all must live up to our potential. That when we are called, we must answer or we are lost"

Either in their homes, in a bar somewhere, at school, or out in the street the citizens of Gotham listened to Mercy's speech. You have some that are cautiously optimistic about her and the company's approach in rebuilding the city. You even have some GCPD officers, those who aren't at the conference making sure the traffic is secured, are listening in.

"I understand your concerns but I can assure that Gotham will be rebuilt as the proud city it once was"

Mercy took the time to answer some of the questions the last reporter raised her hand and she pointed the reporter, Cat Grant, who asked"Now that you've aquired Arkham whats going to be done about the facility?"

In his apartment the former commissioner James Gordon, who has retired from active duty about a year ago, silently watches the broadcast of the conference on tv and listens to Mercy answering the questions to the press

"In closing we will take the task to the fullest commitment and we will see that the task is done." Mercy said

As the press conference is over the reporters make their leave, Cat prepares to do the same till she hears Chloe speak"You know in a way she sounds pretty sincere" Cat looked at her"Regardless of what some may think, at least they're doing something about it, which is more than I can say for some. Anyways I've got what I needed for my article. Going to go out for a drink before I crash at the hotel. Want to come?"

"Got an exclusive with Madam Graves but save me a seat when I'm done. What place are you going to?" Chloe asked

"Ambrosia" Cat responded

"Heard of that place, good choice." Chloe said

"You know I was expecting Clark to show up with you" Cat said

"Tied up with a Superman story but I'll tell him you said hi"Chloe said

Red Hood watched from the shadows. (Why do I have a bad feeling about this?)

Later on just about the majority of the staff had clocked out for the night. Mercy is the only one, outside of security staff, that remained but working overtime is something that isn't new to her. She had finished looking over some of the files then after putting them in her desk she took out a repote, the wall on the far left of her office slide open and revealed a mini-bar. One of the things in her office that she custom made. She walked over then pulls out two glasses and filled them with ice, she poured a Lager for hers

"Whats your poison?" she asked Chloe who had entered her office" Something that isn't too strong, I'm meeting someone later"Skorpio Vodka with some lemonade to lighten it some?"

"Ironic as thats what I'd usually put in" Chloe said walking up to her as Mercy poured Chloe her drink"We both share the same taste" she offered Chloe her drink then accepted it"What should we toast to?"

"A more prospering Gotham" the two clinged their drinks then took a sip before they each took a seat on the bar stool"For a second there I thought you was going to do something corny like toast to world peace"

"Miss Sullivan, please"Mercy groaned with disgust" Give me a little credit"

Chloe got her notepad and recorder out"This exclusive wont take long. Just going to ask a few questions"

"Fire away" Mercy said

"First thing this rebuilding project that you are doing. Was this all Lex's idea or was it mutual?" Chloe asked

"It was mutual. We both have the city's interest at heart but with me it's on a more personal level" Mercy said

"How so?" Chloe asked

"I once grew up here at the Gotham Orphanage" Mercy responded

Chloe's interest peeked"Really? So you didn't come from a rich family?"

Mercy shook her head"More like parents who died from your usual violent encounters Gotham has to offer. At the orphanage I spent the next few years bitter and angry over it. Then one day I just decided to bury it and try to move on, I got adopted by the Graves and eventually adjusted. I've used that past incident to further educate my mind to it's fullest potential then I ended up becoming the person that I am today"

"With you moving in on Gotham there are rumors that LuthorCorp's trying to muscle in on Wayne Enterprises territory"Chloe said

"Far from the truth. Actually we have been working in a partnership with Wayne Enterprises as our goals is similar. A little teamwork never hurts anyone" Mercy said

What Mercy had mentioned before still on Chloe's mind she continued to asked" So as far as your background goes you're an actual rags to riches story"

Mercy smiled"You can say that" she took a sip of her drink

Chloe turned off her tape recorder then puts up her notepad"Theres something I want to ask thats off the record"

"Whats that?" Mercy asked

"Are you and Lex an item? There have been photos of the two of you together, either it's for charity events, or something business related" Chloe asked

Mercy laughed"Sorry, just that you're not the first to bring that question up. Theres nothing going on between us. We are just business associates"

As Chloe had finished her interview and her drink she and Mercy got up"It was nice having this interview session with you Miss Sullivan" she offered her hand in which Chloe accepted"It was an intriguing experience" she said as Mercy escorted her"Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay" she said then Chloe responded"Likewise" she said then left, Mercy watched Chloe leave for a few moments before she returned to her office

Selena arrived at the ball all dressed up and with a mask on. She looked around for Bruce.

Whose observing us as we speak and when the time is right we break out of this place. With your brains and my recources, we'll make him suffer greatly"

Red Hood was driving through the city when he heard a scream from an alley. He paused for a moment before parking his cycle and heading into the alley. (What the hell, I need the exercise...)

Selena stealthed her way through the party as she searched for Bruce.

" Stay back!" Cat backed away fending off two thugs with a taser

"Wooohoohoo now you've done it honey. See me and my friend were just wanted to give you a proper welcome to Gotham" The first one said as they circled her then one of them grabbed her from behind, she screamed once more then the light in the alley shattered as a Batarang connected with it and the alley went completly dark. We hear sounds of fighting followed by a yell but from the thugs this time then they died down. We see Cat Grant cowering against. Her sight adjusted then she noticed her attackers unconcious and tied up dangling on the bottom steps on the side of the building. She looked up at the roof and noticed a familiar figure looking down at her



He looked at her for a few moments then turned and disappeared into the darkness

"Regardless of how he spins it theres always a hidden agenda, until we find enough information to strike at him we only lay low and observe. You manage to see the press conference?"Batman asked

See me and my friend were just wanted to give you a proper welcome to Gotham" The first one said as they circled her then one of them grabbed her from behind, she screamed once more then the light in the alley shattered as a Batarang connected with it and the alley went completly dark. We hear sounds of fighting followed by a yell but from the thugs this time then they died down. We see Cat Grant cowering against. Her sight adjusted then she noticed her attackers unconcious and tied up dangling on the bottom steps on the side of the building. She looked up at the roof and noticed a familiar figure looking down at her
